Hartford Center
By West Hartford Chamber of
Commerce
West Hartford, CT - On Wednesday, October 25, 2006 the Shish
Kebab House of Afghanistan held a gathering to celebrate the
opening of their new restaurant in West Hartford Center.
West Hartford’s Mayor, Scott Slifka and the Chamber of
Commerce celebrated the opening with a ribbon cutting
ceremony on that evening.
The Shish Kebab House is a family owned business first
introduced to Hartford on Franklin Avenue in 1988. Inspired
by his wife’s recipes, Quame Armiri brought Afghan cuisine
to Connecticut. Today the restaurant is owned by his
daughter, Halima Sarwar and is managed by her son, Aaron.
The family also owns and operates the new location in West
Hartford Center.
The restaurants have received rave reviews in several
publications including the Hartford Courant and the New York
Times. They have developed a vast customer base which brings
people from as far Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York.
Anyone can find something to their liking at the Shish Kebab
House due to its extensive menu and beautiful atmosphere.
Afghan cuisine consists of meats, freshwater fish,
vegetables, dried peas, beans, fresh fruits, yogurt,
noodles, rice, and seasonings. The Shish Kebab House is a
family owned business and will remain that way for
generations to come. Join them for Happy Hour and free
appetizers Monday – Thursday from 4:00 p.m - 6 p.m.. Be sure
to visit their website at www.AfghanCuisine.net for menu
